LYCETT CONTEST 2025


for a seedling hybridized by ODS member.


There are 7 classes:

  • Miniature – flowers < 3” in diameter
  • Small – flowers ≥ 3” but < 4.5” in diameter
  • Large – flowers ≥ 4.5” but < 7” in diameter
  • Extra Large – flowers ≥ 7” in diameter
  • Doubles
  • Spiders
  • Unusual Form


The Lycett Award goes to the seedling voted best overall.

Prizes: $50 per category and $100 for the Lycett Award, plus a trophy for the Lycett award. The prizes are MONEY to use as you wish although we encourage you to use the prizes in the Can-Am auction September, 2026!

PHOTO CONTEST 2026


There are four categories:
Landscape, Creative, Artistic, Individual Plant

All will require some aspect of a daylily or garden with daylilies included.


LANDSCAPE show at least one daylily plant in a photogenic scene ideally highlighting your own gardens but any garden is acceptable.


CREATIVE manipulated images, can include photos of paintings, digital artwork and photo-shopped images.


ARTISTIC an image of a blossom with insects or frogs or something that gives the viewer a sense of "Ahh isn't that interesting!".


INDIVIDUAL PLANT - focus on one plant - a clump, single fan, scape in bloom or single blossom. We are looking for beauty in the photo as well as beauty in the plant that is the focus of the photo.
